Knicks report: Notes, quotes
--While he still has a position with the Knicks, exiled head coach Isiah Thomas will not have much of a say into what goes on. He's not likely to have much contact with the players, either. "I value his opinion, so I will use him as a resource," team president Donnie Walsh said recently. Thomas is not a popular figure in New York right now, so the organization will go to great lengths to make sure he's not seen or heard. --Former Knicks centerpiece Patrick Ewing seems a little put off that nobody from the organization has called him up to interview as a head coach candidate. He spoke of the disappointment with John Thompson during a TNT interview. "Obviously, I played in New York," Ewing said. "I know the area. I know the team. I know the fans. I know everybody. I know the media. So, naturally, I would have loved to interview." The Orlando Magic assistant got a big endorsement from Stan Van Gundy, but he apparently did not contact Knicks president Donnie Walsh. QUOTE TO NOTE Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange.
