Testaverde expected to retire: Backed up without a good quarterback after Jake Delhomme tore a ligament in his elbow, the Panthers persuaded 44-year-old Vinny Testaverde out of retirement. After being with the team for less than a week, he started for the Panthers in Week 6 at Arizona. Ultimately, he led the team in passing in 2007 with 952 yards on 94-of-172 passing (54.7 comp. pct.), posting five touchdowns and six interceptions and 22 rush yards.
