Bryant Johnson signs with 49ers: WR Bryant Johnson agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, a deal he confirmed himself on Sirius NFL Radio. Johnson, an unrestricted free agent, was a first-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2003, and had spent his entire career with the Cardinals. Last season, he had 46 receptions for 528 yards and two touchdowns. (Updated 03/14/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Johnson has a chance to become the No. 1 wide receiver for the 49ers but must battle for the job first. One hint that leads us to believe he'll attain such status is the Niners' decision to release veteran WR Darrell Jackson. While Johnson does have plenty of upside, along with a chance to be a true No. 1 with the 49ers, there's some serious risk since he's never met his potential. Playing in Mike Martz's pass-friendly offense might be just what the doctor ordered. We're calling him a middle- to late-round sleeper in 2008, especially if the Niners' passing game perks up this offseason. Look for Johnson to remain a No. 4 Fantasy option with the chance to see his value rise. (Updated 03/14/2008).
