Mock with a twist: Who should go where -- listening Raiders?

We've seen tons of mock drafts, including plenty on this site. And there's one more to come from both Clark Judge and myself on Friday.

Buckle up, Brady Quinn, it could be a bumpy ride. (US Presswire)
Buckle up, Brady Quinn, it could be a bumpy ride. (US Presswire)
All of those drafts, as well as the many all over the web, are put together with an eye on predicting who teams will take, the object being to try and get as many players in the right slot as possible.

But this mock draft is different. Instead of trying to predict who a team will take, this is a mock draft based on who the teams should take -- based on my evaluation.

For example, most have the Oakland Raiders choosing between Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson and LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell in their mock drafts.

Not in this draft.

That's because the guy the Raiders should draft is Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn. (By the way, that opinion is validated because colleague Mike Freeman thinks he's overrated.)

In my mind, Quinn will be better than Russell in the long run. And without a quarterback of note on their roster, the Raiders need to get one. They passed on Matt Leinart last year, which was a major mistake.

Picking Quinn would make amends for that.

So you get it? This is a mock draft based on what teams should do, not what we think they will do.

Go ahead, start the ripping:

1. Oakland Raiders: Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame: They need a quarterback. He's the best quarterback. It's that simple.

2. Detroit Lions: Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech: So what if Matt Millen has ruined his reputation taking receivers in the first round. This kid is a can't-miss prospect.

3. Cleveland Browns: JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU: When you don't have one, you get one. Even though I'm not as high on Russell as others, he still has a chance to be a lot better than what the Browns have.
