SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Chargers claimed quarterback Casey Bramlet off waivers from the Miami Dolphins on Friday.

Bramlet is the fourth quarterback on the roster, joining Philip Rivers, Billy Volek and Charlie Whitehurst.

San Diego is Bramlet's fifth NFL team.

After being waived by Washington at the end of training camp last summer, Bramlet was signed to Atlanta's practice squad and then spent two weeks as the club's third quarterback. He was waived on Sept. 19 and joined the Dolphins' practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster and served as Miami's third quarterback for the final two weeks of the season.

He was a seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in 2004. He backed up Jon Kitna and Carson Palmer during his rookie season and then spent spring 2005 with the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe.

Bramlet was teammates at Wyoming with Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd.

Maybe this will stop them for spending a butt of money on a crappy QB from this draft.

That's redunkulous...we need to replace Michael Turner and we need more receivers!!  FOUR  QBs??  Do they have to audition for the starting position?  Come on...let's get this team ready for the Playoffs!!

AJ has earned my trust, I bet his dangling Whitehearst as trade bait.  He wants more draft picks.  Something is going on.

ok, I thought for sure AJ had done this to trade to get a 2nd round or 3rd round pick.....still time left but it's not looking good for the Chargers to have any picks for a long time.
