In a reversal of a June 20 decision, the NFL has rescinded the four-game suspension of former San Diego Chargers right tackle Shane Olivea.
Olivea, who started 13 games for the Chargers last season, was released by the team Feb. 28. He was subsequently suspended June 20 for the first four games of the 2008 season, although he remained eligible to sign with a team and participate in training camp and preseason games.
Thursday's decision allows Olivea to sign with a team without any restrictions. It is not known what policy Olivea originally was ruled to have violated, nor what led to the league's latest decision.
