Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay is taking veteran wide receiver Marvin Harrison at his word.

Harrison recently told Irsay, team president Bill Polian and head coach Tony Dungy that he was not involved in a recent Philadelphia shooting incident.

For now, that's enough for Irsay. Still, he is quite aware of public perception. That said, he will take a cautious approach and wait for all the facts to come out.

"We look at everything seriously if we have an incident with any of our players. At the same time we want to make sure that we know what the facts are," Irsay said.

He added that the Colts' security staff had been in contact with NFL security in Philadelphia and with the city's police department.

"At this point I'm keeping my fingers crossed," he said. "We've done everything we could do in our diligence to try to discern what happened. He said he was not involved in that shooting and the authorities have said there is nothing imminent."

Harrison has not been charged in the shooting, although there have been reports that shell casings found at the scene of the shooting match a gun that is owned by the franchise's all-time receiving leader. He has been interviewed by Philadelphia police

"You hope these things hold up to be true, that there won't be any charges and there wasn't any involvement. Until we hear more, this isn't even a case of innocent until proven guilty because there hasn't been a charge yet," Irsay said.

"(Harrison has been) a tremendous asset to the franchise, both on and off the field."

Still think Dungy should've retired?  Not to rub it in guys, but you gotta have faith!
