Backstrom entering UFA season: The Sports Xchange reports both Wild goaltenders Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding are in the last years of their contracts. Backstrom can become an unrestricted free agent, so the Wild wants to see if Harding, its 24-year-old goalie of the future, will challenge Backstrom and "take games" from him. If he doesn't and Backstrom has a big year, you can bet the Wild will try hard during the season to extend the poised goalie's contract.

Backstrom heads into the season as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie since he will lose starts to Harding.
