Beech feeling good as camp opens: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Penguins C Kris Beech spent the second half of last season and most of the summer recovering from a broken right wrist. Beech suffered the injury in February and said his wrist started to feel at 100 percent in August. He hopes to increase his role in 2008-09. "My days of trying to play GM are over," Beech said. "That's not how I think. I'm doing my best out there, and that's all I can control."

Fantasy Analysis

Beech is entering his eighth NHL season, and he spent Year 7 splitting time between Columbus, Vancouver and Pittsburgh. He had 11 points in 25 games last season. Beech has really only played two full seasons in the NHL and has been pretty much a lower-line guy. He has little to no Fantasy value until further notice.

Beech, reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last week as part of a roster cut, has not reported to the AHL club since clearing waivers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. (Updated 10/02/2008)

Beech, a forward acquired by Pittsburgh in a trade for Jaromir Jagr in 2001, was claimed off waivers in January but was limited to five games because of a broken wrist. He was re-signed over the summer. Beech has 25 goals and 42 assists in 198 NHL games. He had six goals and five assists in 25 games with Columbus, Vancouver and Pittsburgh last season.
