Savard misses final seven games: Bruins C Marc Savard was not active for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Sabres because of a back injury. He missed the last seven games of the 2007-08 season and remains questionable for the start of the playoffs. Boston will be either the seventh or eighth seed. "It’s been an uncomfortable injury, that’s for sure," Savard told the Boston Herald. "I have no idea what the timetable is, really. I skated for five minutes (Friday) and about 20 (Saturday). We’re taking it one step at a time. This week I’ll be practicing with the team at some point, and then we’ll have to go from there. Hopefully, it’s Game 1 (of the playoffs) that I can play." There is little doubt in anyone's mind that if the Bruins want to pull a first-round upset, they will need a healthy Savard. He is the team's top playmaker and that was evident by his 63 assists. He now has 60-plus assists for a third straight season, but failed to make it 90-plus points for three straight seasons because of the back injury.
