Ellis not acting complacent: The Sports Xchange reports this time last season, Predators G Dan Ellis was simply trying to get noticed. Destined for Milwaukee (AHL), he refused to give up. Not only did he make the team, he eventually became the No. 1 goaltender, prompting the Predators to trade Chris Mason. Ellis is feeling more comfortable in camp. But he doesn't want to be too comfortable. He is backed up by talented Pekka Rinne, who had planned to be the backup in Nashville last season before Ellis stepped up. They are both talented, but they are by far the most inexperienced goaltending duo in terms of NHL games played.

Fantasy Analysis

Ellis has put together one successful season, leading the NHL in save percentage (.924) and also setting a franchise record for shutouts in a season with six. Probably most impressive was his 11-3-3 record in one-goal games. Ellis, for the first time in his career, has bought a home in the city where his team plays. He has looked sharp in practice and is healthy. He does have to be careful of Rinne since Nashville has in recent seasons pulled the plug on goalies (Mason and Tomas Vokoun), but Ellis remains a decent No. 2 Fantasy goalie heading into 2008-09.
