The Flyers and Joffrey Lupul are close to an agreement on a four-year contract extension, says the Philadelphia Inquirer. Lupul told the Inquirer he is hopeful it will get done "early next week." (updated: 07/21/2008)

The July 1st FA period is here and several teams the Flyers will compete with in the East have made things interesting.

The way I see it, the top 8 teams fighting for playoff spots will be:

1. Montreal
2. Philadelphia
3. Pittsburgh
4. New Jersey
5. Tampa Bay
6. Ottawa
