There are still few months before training camp begins for the Stars. But for some of their younger members, pushing for a place on the team may have begun two weeks ago at the Stars' development camp. And while there aren't many positions left to fill, that won't stop some of the young guys from trying.
James Neal and Raymond Sawada are two who have the best chance at making the Stars' team come September. Francis Wathier isn't too far behind. Each is young, gifted, and ready to take the next step. Stars coach Dave Tippett said they all fared well at the week-long development sessions.
"(Neal's) a hard-working guy, and you have to figure out how to use work ethic to accomplish the most you can," Tippett said. "Sawada is a (B.J.) Crombeen-style guy. He's big and rugged. And Wathier's a big, strong guy who's worked awful hard."
Still, it's going to have to come down to what they do at training camp. That's where defenseman Matt Niskanen distanced himself from the pack last September, earning himself a season-long stay with the Stars. Now the Stars will see which new guy is willing to do that same amount of work.
"They're going to have to be in a situation like Nisky was last year. He willed himself a job, he played so well," Tippett said. "Those are things guys going to have to look at."

Mattias Norstrom is hanging them up after 14 years of classy play. I've watched this guy for years, and even have 2 or 3 Kings jerseys with his name and number 14 on them.. the last one with the "C". I recall one game against San Jose where Tony Granato cross-che

I'm glad i got to see one of my teams do good in the playoffs.. Especially the Stars cuz i love Hockey playoffs more than any other sport, well besides football. But going in as the underdogs who couldnt get out of the first round, Turco being the playoff bust, and our offense a no show last couple of years. They really proved
Well although it hurts to lose to the Red Wings, it is time to look back at this season and what a great season it was. This very talented team finally got the playoff monkey off of its back because it finally was able to score which is the direction this new NHL has led to. Last year it was
Suddenly my call of the Stars over the Red Wings in seven is looking pretty right now... Not only will it be the call of the century but history as well. Since Turk gotta a win in the Joe then i think he is basically unstoppable right now. Thats all he needed was one win there and
