FINAL RECORD
24-11, 11-5, second in the MAC East Division
WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Zips were the MAC's No. 1 3-point shooting team and led the conference in turnover margin and assist-turnover ratio. Akron was third in the league in scoring defense (63.8 ppg) and featured one of the MAC's best back-to-the-basket performers in Jeremiah Wood.
WHAT WENT WRONG
Injuries and roster shuffling kept the team from reaching its full potential. Defensively, the Zips were not as difficult to score against as in years past, with a 44.6 defensive field-goal percentage and a negative rebound margin.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Akron is a very good basketball team. They were out-toughing us, slapping the balls, bodying up against us, getting inside of the basket and laying it in." -- Massachusetts coach Travis Ford.
