FINAL RECORD
11-19, 7-11, fifth place in Sun Belt West.
WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Pioneers overcame a lack of depth and experience and the loss of their two leading scorers during the season and still established a more competitive identity, especially at home.
WHAT WENT WRONG
The lack of numbers and the inexperience took a toll on the road, especially down the stretch when the Pioneers closed with seven straight losses.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Losing six in a row makes it seem like we've hit a bad stretch, but we haven't been playing poorly. We had a chance to win four of them in the final minute. Some of our guys have hit a wall, and we knew that time was coming eventually. We probably pushed it back a little further than we thought we could." -- Denver coach Joe Scott before the season ended with a 65-60 loss to New Orleans in the first round of the Sun Belt tournament.
