WHAT WENT RIGHT
Illinois State's seniors, inconsistent as juniors under former coach Porter Moser, came together under Tim Jankovich. When they played good defense, the Redbirds were tough to beat. The NIT berth reestablished Illinois State as an MVC power and reinvigorated their fans.

WHAT WENT WRONG
A second-round NIT loss at home was tough to take. Illinois State scored only 48 points. Three losses to Drake killed Illinois State's NCAA chances.
