Seahawks report: Getting inside
One misstep cost UNC-Wilmington a spot in postseason play. The Seahawks had won six of seven games as they went into the semifinals of the CAA tournament, needing just one more victory to probably assure a postseason bid. Instead they took a night off, showing a rare loss of poise, and lost to eventual conference tournament champion George Mason. What made it hardest to take was the highest scoring team in the conference going into that game managed only 41 points against the Patriots. It was a sad end to the careers of four seniors who did all they could to carry the Seahawks farther. Next year, UNC-Wilmington will have to go it without their top four scorers -- guard T.J. Carter, center Vladimir Kuljanin, forward Todd Hendley and guard Daniel Fountain. Coach Benny Moss' rebuilding job will have to be around point guard Chad Tomko, who came on strong late in the year until the final game when he went scoreless. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange.
