THE GOOD NEWS
PG Ashton Mitchell will return after a decent sophomore season, and coach Bob Marlin used his bench extensively, so five other players will come back next season with solid experience.

THE BAD NEWS
The team lost four senior starters, including do-all F Ryan Bright and G Shamir McDaniel, who assumed the mantle of scorer. The team doesn't have a dominant inside enforcer on the immediate horizon, something that cost the team at the end of the season.

KEY RETURNEES
Mitchell scored 7.2 points a game and led the team with 122 assists. G DeLuis Ramirez started for most of the season and finished as the third-leading scorer. But he is not the long-distance shooter that McDaniel was. Wing Reggie Rawlins can be spectacular at times.

ROSTER REPORT

--F Ryan Bright closed his career ranked seventh on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,429 points. He is Sam Houston's third-leading career rebounder, grabbing 967.

--Despite playing more of a combo guard or off guard role, senior Shamir McDaniel finished with 339 assists, good for sixth on the team's career list.
