FINAL RECORD
13-16, 6-10 Southland Conference, fifth place West Division, ninth overall.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Bobcats improved their win total and developed some young talent. Texas State showed its potential by hanging in the conference tournament race and upsetting Sam Houston. One of the most turnover-prone teams in the nation last season, the Bobcats dramatically improved in that area. The team playing at the end of the season was a lot more consistent than the one that started the 2007-08 season.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Too many easy baskets surrendered. This still is a sore spot with Texas State, which gave up 85 points a game. Overall, the Bobcats were improved, but coach Doug Davalos hasn't been able to effectively instill his defensive principles.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"There's nothing that you can say, 'This is the thing that hurts us.' It's an accumulation of doing all the things right. It's a failure for what we're trying to do. I think any of our losses could've been wins. We (could) be playing for our postseason lives in our last home game." -- Texas State coach Doug Davalos to the Sam Marcos Record on his team missing the postseason.
