--Junior G Lester Hudson was the OVC player of the year. He averaged 25.5 points and made an OVC record 121 3-pointers. He also became the first player in NCAA history to record a quadruple when he had 25 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals against Central Baptist.

--Freshman G Marquis Weddle was named the league's freshman of the year. He averaged 17 points a game and made more than 100 3-pointers.

FINAL RECORD
17-16, 11-9, 4th place in the OVC.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Skyhawks were weak in the backcourt a year ago, but two newcomers turned their fortunes around in 2007-08. Junior college transfer Lester Hudson and freshman Marquis Weddle combined to average more than 42 points a game and provide UTM the most explosive backcourt tin the conference.

WHAT WENT WRONG
The Skyhawks struggled to win at home early in conference play. Had they been able to be more successful on their home court, they would have finished higher in the league standings. UTM was close to playing for the league championship, only to lose 76-75 to Austin Peay in the semifinals of the league tournament.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Lester has had an incredible year for a first-year guy in Division I. He has acquired some remarkable accomplishments this season. He will be long remembered as a tremendous player at UT-Martin." -- UTM coach Bret Campbell of junior guard Lester Hudson, who was named the OVC player of the year.
