--The late collapse that almost cost Texas in a 75-72 victory against Miami in the second round of the NCAA Tournament included an incredibly embarrassing moment for the Longhorns' All-America candidate. G D.J. Augustin didn't even come close to the rim on a free throw with 1.8 seconds and later joked, "I shot it a little short."

--Texas was great shooting contested bombs, but poor shooting uncontested foul shots in the win against Miami. The Longhorns were 13 for 26 from 3-point range, yet just 12 for 21 from the free-throw line

--The matchup with Miami was a reunion of sorts. Miami coach Frank Haith was a Texas assistant for three seasons under Rick Barnes. Haith was primarily responsible for recruiting G A.J. Abrams, who led the Longhorns with 26 points.

COACH
Rick Barnes, 10 years at Texas, 10th year in NCAA Tournament.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
After sharing the Big 12 regular-season title with Kansas and splitting with the Jayhawks during the season, Texas was installed as a No. 2 seed. The Longhorns appeared to be sailing through their sub-regional draw before Miami used a frantic comeback from a 17-point deficit to make the second-round finish exciting. G D.J. Augustin orchestrates a game as well as any point in the country, while F Damion James is great positioning himself for rebounds.

THEY'LL ADVANCE IF...: They don't wither in the regional. Texas doesn't have the depth to compete favorably over short spans. The day of rest between NCAA Tournament games figured to negate that factor, though the Longhorns' collapse against Miami raises doubts. Although 10th-year coach Rick Barnes tried desperately to build his frontline over the season and did make strides, the only consistent banger inside is F Damion James, a 6-foot-7 sophomore.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I went through a stretch where I was struggling, but I've relaxed and found my stroke again. I have to give the credit to my coaches and my teammates for always being confident in me and just doing a great job of giving me the ball." -- Texas G A.J. Abrams.
