--RHP Paul Byrd has given up six home runs in two starts against the Yankees this season. Three of the six homers have been hit by Jason Giambi. "I cannot get him out. I don't know why," Byrd said.

--SS Jhonny Peralta hit fourth in the lineup Thursday for the first time this season in manager Eric Wedge's daily attempt kick-start the offense.

--RHP Joe Borowski threw his first bullpen session Thursday since being placed on the disabled list with a strained right triceps. Borowski said the bullpen session went well and that he'll continue throwing every other day.

--DH Travis Hafner, whose slump has dragged his average down to .209, was not in the starting lineup the last two games of the Yankee series. "He's pressing," manager Eric Wedge said.

--C Victor Martinez, still bothered by a stiff neck, sat out the first and third games of the New York series, and he was the DH in the other game. His status remains day-to-day.

BY THE NUMBERS
.163 -- Opposing batters' on-base percentage vs. LHP Cliff Lee in the month of April. It's the lowest opponents' on-base percentage over a pitcher's first five starts to a season in 99 years, since Frank Smith of the White Sox had an opponents' on-base percentage of .159 in 1909.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"The last thing I want is for him to go up there trying to hit home runs." -- Manager Eric Wedge, on C Victor Martinez, who despite leading the league in hitting did not hit a home run in the Indians' first 30 games of the season.
