Player Info
Davenport won the 2004 Porsche Race to the Championships. With a 61-8 match record, seven Tour titles and a 22-match win streak over the summer hardcourt season, she claimed the Race for the third time in her career.
She claimed a Tour-leading seventh title of the season at the Porsche Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany. She has now won 45 titles on Tour. She won her fourth consecutive title at the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati, Ohio. She won the Acura Classic, in Carlsbad, the JPMorgan Chase Open, in Los Angeles and her third Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California the weeks before. She had already swept the California series in 1998. She also won the U.S. Open that year. She won her 600th career match in the third round of the French Open. She picked up her 40th career title at the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Amelia Island, Florida. She had won there in 1997. She didn't play at the Nasdaq-100 in Miami, Fla, because "she's not really fond of the conditions. It's quite humid, so windy there." She won her fourth Pan Pacific Open title in Tokyo, Japan. She won the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia, along with James Blake, in the opening week of the season, without losing one single match. (updated 11/15/2004) Alphabetical Listing
