Federer won 65 consecutive matches on grass since 2003 before losing to Nadal at Wimbledon.

He claimed his second title of the year in Halle, Germany (grass). His first win came in Estoril, Portugal (clay). He now has 55 wins on the ATP Tour, claiming at least one title a year since 2001. He has won 10 titles on grass, tying Pete Sampras for the most grass court titles in the Open Era.
