Florida Marlins, World Champions! Unbelievable but true. Just five years old, the Marlins dramatically tie the score on Craig Counsell's sac fly in the bottom of the ninth and win Game 7 of the World Series on Edgar Renteria's RBI single in the 11th. The 3-2 victory gives manager Jim Leyland what he calls 'a total fantasy for me,' and extends Cleveland's championship drought to 49 years. Columnist Ray Buck gives Leyland more credit for the accomplishment than the Marlins' skipper will accept.

  • Renteria shows Marlins aren't all about payroll
  • Leyland wins one for the little guys
  • Florida Series was baseball the way it ought to be
