Mid-Continent Conference report

SportsLine Report
April 15, 2000

The 1999-2000 season looked like it was going to be one of the best in Chicago State history. And it was.

Still, it had to be somewhat disappointing for the Cougars, who actually led the Mid-Con for a while in the early going, to settle back into the second division and lose 10 of their last 12 games.

It wasn't the same old Cougars, but in the end it was, as the Cougars fell to the No. 6 seed in the Mid-Con Tourney and were bounced in the first round by Missouri-Kansas City.

  • It might be difficult for the Cougars to build for next season as two of their top three scorers graduate, among them point guard Jermain Hicks. Darrell Johns will be the leading returning scorer, hacing dropped in 13.7 points a game last season. He was also the team's top rebounder, averaging 7.7 a game.
