With senior swingman Richie Parker, the school's No. 4 all-time scorer, suffering through a miserable, injury- and illness-hampered season, LIU never got off the ground with its 19 losses the most by an LIU team since 1993-94.

A glance at 2001

LIU will have only two seniors on the team next season and needs to add size.

The coach

A former assistant at seven schools, the last being Miami of Ohio from 1996-98, Ray Martin brought a more deliberate, disciplined style to LIU and most of its run-and-gun players have found it difficult to adapt. His two year record now stands at 18-36.

Who'll be back

Freshman guard Antawn Dobie is the only returning LIU player who notched double figures this season. Also returning will be forward Kareem Smith and five other underclassmen who saw spot duty
