Private Lap rallies to win at Aqueduct

NEW YORK -- Private Lap rallied to overtake frontrunning Tom's Thunder in the final stride for a head victory in Aqueduct's $56,000 allowance feature Friday.

Tom's Thunder finished second in the field of eight, four lengths ahead of Yankee Doodle Boy.

Private Lap carried 116 pounds and John Velazquez 1 1/8 miles in 1:50 4/5 to earn $31,600 for Preferred Pals Stable. It was Velazquez's third winning ride of the day.

Private Lap returned $20.20, $11.00 and $8.50. Tom's Thunder paid $7.90 and $7.40, and Yankee Doodle Boy paid $6.30.
