CALGARY, Alberta -- Calgary Flames coach Darryl Sutter will also be the general manager after Craig Button was fired Friday.

Button hired Sutter to replace coach Greg Gilbert in December.

The Flames missed the playoffs this season, finishing last in the Northwest Division.

Button was the club's GM for three seasons, during which the Flames were 88-107-40-11. Calgary has missed the playoffs for seven straight seasons.

Button's assistant, Dan Stuchal, also is leaving the Flames.
