Denver Bronco CB Terrell Buckley
Chat Transcript
Denver Bronco CB Terrell Buckley joined us on SuperBowl.com to chat about the upcoming SuperBowl XXXV game.
Terrell Buckley: Hi! How are you doing? I am happy to be here and hope you have a lot of questions! I'm ready! Question: broncpower: Who did you look up to growing up, Terrell? Terrell Buckley: Family wise.. of course my parents to start. Sports wise it was Walter Payton. He was from Mississippi.. same hometown, a distant relative. He was a great football player and a great person. Question: ravensrock: Was there any player/team you watched growing up that you particularly liked? Terrell Buckley: Yes.. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mean Joe Greene, John Stallworth, Lynn Swann, Rocky, Mel.. and the list goes on. The Steelers were obviously my favorite team. Question: freezinhere: Terrell, what coach do you feel influenced you the most? Terrell Buckley: My high school coach, Jamie Kelly, was the D coordinator. He got me to take it to the next level. My two college coaches, Bobby Bowden and Mickey Andrews.. for showing toughness and discipline. And then they showed me they cared about me. Treated me as a person both off and on the field. Question: brownsfan28: Is there someone you have patterned your game after Terrell Buckley: Wow..there were 3 guys. Lester Hayes, Frank Minnefield, and Hanford Dixon. They weren't big guys... but were scrappy and tough and had an attitude. They weren't afraid to succeed. Question: marty3: Hello Terrell, describe what it's like to play in the NFL? Terrell Buckley: It is one of the most exciting experiences you can have! There are so many emotions you go through before a game, during a game, and after a game. It is an every day, all hours.. one of those jobs you can never leave at the office. It is like riding a roller coaster. You appreciate that you get to go through all those different emotions. Question: creeky: Terrell - what do you tell young players just coming into the league? Terrell Buckley: I tell them a few things.. First of all, be appreciative to be here. Second, if you have questions, ask the guys. Third. Control all aspects of your life. You are in control of the money and your career. And most importantly.. enjoy yourself. have a good time. Question: mike_jordan: Terrell, what has been the highlight of your NFL career, so far? Terrell Buckley: The receivers that are not as fast and not as elusive as I am. I don't know any one in particular. The highlight? Wow.. I have had so many it is hard to pick out one. That is really a tough one. I would say my first NFL game. The first time I touched the ball I scored a TD on a a punt return. Question: genesis: Terrell, how will Gregg Robinson's leaving affect the team? Terrell Buckley: It is hard to tell. I have only been here one year. We did some good things and some that were not so good. We made the playoffs but lost in the first round. The won two Super Bowls with the guy so it is hard to say. Question: genesis: How difficult was it for some of the team to see Shannon in that purple uniform? Terrell Buckley: Hahhaaa.. I think for a lot of them it was basically weird and not difficult. He'd been in that Bronco uniform for so long. But for people who understand life, change is necessary in order to grow. His teammates understood that but it was still weird to see. Question: marty3: Hello Terrell, what will it take for the Broncos to reach "The Super Bowl" next Season? Terrell Buckley: I think they have the right people in place. The coaching staff is excellent, they have a good nucleus of players. They are close to being where they need to be. They just have to grow and stay focused.. maybe one player here or there and they are back in the Super Bowl. I would love to be a part of that. Question: broncoblue: People keep asking me what we're going to do with our 3 stud running backs, do you have any input? Terrell Buckley: I have NO idea! That is a great problem to have though! Question: mike_jordan: Do you get a feeling of what it would be like to play in a Superbowl, just being around all the parties and pregame festivities? Terrell Buckley: I get a decent feeling I guess. It is hard to explain to somebody about how you truly feel being a part of it. Question: marty3: Hello Terrell, describe what it's like to go against the Ravens Offense? Terrell Buckley: It is pretty exciting! It is an NFL offense that presents some problems. They try to control the clock and let the defense win the game. But if you don't give them the respect they deserve, they will make just enough plays to beat you. It is a challenge to face those guys. Question: jamish260: Terrell, what do you think of Ray Lewis and the Ravens D? Terrell Buckley: Awesome. Those guys play as a unit and they feed off one another. They play the type of style that they know they are good and they're going to prove it to you. That to me is some energy you can feed off, even watching on the TV. They play with confidence and emotion and know they are going to get the job done no matter what. Question: broncpower: Terrell, what do you think of the Ismail/Sehorn matchup? Terrell Buckley: That is an exciting match up. Qadry is a fast receiver who can make plays and Jason is a fabulous corner who can make plays too. The Giants use him in a good way.. doubling receivers and all. I am very intrigued in anticipating that matchup. Question: vikefreak: Can Billick keep the Ravens focused for his first SB? Terrell Buckley: Yes. Without a doubt! He has a little turmoil with the Ray Lewis situation and had to keep that under control.. so I don't think that will be any problem for him. Question: vikefreak: Terrell, do you think it's fair to say Raven D is as good as SuperBowl Bears D? Terrell Buckley: That is a great question! I think that if they aren't as good as those guys, then they are close. The Bears may have an edge because they had 5 or 6 who made big plays. The Ravens have Ray and Sam Adams and a few others but the Bears had more. But that does NOT diminish what they have done this year! Question: marty3: Hello Terrell, who do you think is going to win "The Super Bowl"? Terrell Buckley: That is tough. I am going to pick the Ravens, probably. Two reasons.. 1 .. they are from the AFC. And #2 .. I want people to start respecting Trent Dilfer. If you are a QB in the NFL you deserve some respect. He is like 15-1 as a starter there. He deserves some appreciation being on this AFC Championship team. Terrell Buckley: I want to thank you guys and say from the bottom of my heart that I appreciate your support and the enthusiasm you show for the NFL and the players. I wish you all the very best and my God bless you. |
