Dear Fans:
The Ripken Museum, located in the Ripken family hometown of Aberdeen, Maryland, opened to the public on December 6, 1996. In its first year of operation, the Museum welcomed more than 14,000 visitors. The Ripken Museum is currently located in what was the former public meeting room of the Aberdeen City Hall building. It took over a year and many hundreds of thousands of dollars to renovate this room into the showpiece it is today. In March 1998 the Museum took another bold step in its future by purchasing City Hall from the City of Aberdeen. Architectural plans for the Museum's expansion are underway and it is anticipated that renovations to this area of the building should be completed by mid 2000. To accomplish the expansion project, the Ripken Museum Inc. is going forward with a $2.5 million capital campaign. There are some great opportunities for corporate partnerships with the museum as we expand. Call or send for a catalogue from our gift shop if you are planning to purchase a gift for a Ripken Fan in the near future. Many have signed up to be a Charter Member and are part of history-in-the-making. Of the 873 Charter Club Memberships, about half remain available.
