Tiger Woods Foundation: 2001 Clinic Information

This year marks the fifth successful year for the Tiger Woods Foundation Junior Golf Clinics and Exhibition. By teaching golf, the Foundation helps to encourage youth to dream big, gets the community involved in helping kids reach their goals, and ensures their access to developmental opportunities in society.

Earl Woods, Tiger’s father and best-selling author of Playing Through, Start Something, and Training A Tiger: A Father’s Guide To Raising A Winner In Both Golf And Life, will speak to children, parents and adult mentors on the values of parenting and golf in a special session entitled "Caring and Sharing."

The clinics also will offer a celebrity fundraising auction and a series of workshops aimed at families. While the golf clinics are closed to the general public, as all participants are members of local youth and public junior golf groups, the celebrity fundraising auction and a series of workshops aimed at families are open to the public.

Money raised by these junior golf clinics is part of the TWF's "Leave Behind" program. After expenses, 90% of the funds raised are earmarked to help junior programs that serve minority & underprivileged youth in that city. These fund have been used to purchase equipment, additional instruction times, as well as increasing access to practice facilities & competition.

Over the past four years, the Foundation has helped raise over $560,000 for the cities in which it has conducted clinics. We are looking forward to adding to our success, and the success of the programs within the host cities, with the junior golf clinics this year.

"Tiger challenges youth everywhere to ‘Dare to do your best’, "says Joe Grant, executive director. "Utilizing the platform golf provides, the Foundation supports programs that: encourage youth to dream big dreams, engage the community in helping youngsters realize their goals, and ensure young people’s access to all aspects of society."
