During each clinic, Tiger Woods will give a hands-on lesson to each of 25 kids selected
from the community. Minority golf instructors will teach an additional 100 juniors.
Following the clinic, 2,500 kids from inner-city neighborhoods, local organizations and
after-school programs will enjoy an exhibition and discussion led by Tiger. In the
session, he will talk about his experiences, answer childrens questions, and give a
ball striking demonstration.
The clinics also will offer a celebrity fundraising auction and a series
of workshops aimed at families. While the golf clinics are closed to the general public, as all participants
are members of local youth and public junior golf groups, the celebrity
fundraising auction and a series of workshops aimed at families are open to
the public.
Money raised by these junior golf clinics is part of the TWF's "Leave
Behind" program. After expenses, 90% of the funds raised are earmarked to
help junior programs that serve minority & underprivileged youth in that
city. These fund have been used to purchase equipment, additional
instruction times, as well as increasing access to practice facilities &
competition.
"Tiger challenges youth everywhere to Dare to do your best,
"says Joe Grant, executive director. "Utilizing the platform golf provides, the
Foundation supports programs that: encourage youth to dream big dreams, engage the
community in helping youngsters realize their goals, and ensure young peoples access
to all aspects of society."
