Los Angeles, CA (February 26, 2001) - The Tiger Woods Foundation announced today that multi-Platinum-selling artists Third Eye Blind and John Mellencamp will take the stage at the Tiger Jam IV benefit concert presented by Coca-Cola. The fourth annual event will take place on April 28, 2001, at 8:30 PM in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The benefit concert will once again raise and distribute funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation and children's charities based in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
"I am extremely pleased that John Mellencamp and Third Eye Blind have agreed to perform at Tiger Jam IV. John is one of the true legends of American rock and roll and Third Eye Blind has achieved tremendous success over the past few years," stated Tiger Woods.
"From Los Angeles to Indianapolis - the Tiger Woods Foundation is making a difference in the lives of young people who are in need of hope and support," said John Mellencamp. "It's great to be a part of Tiger Jam IV."
Tickets for the concert will be going on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, March 3, 2001, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com), at the Mandalay Bay Box Office or charge by phone at (702) 474-4000. Individual tickets start at $45.
John Mellencamp made his musical debut in 1976, with his first album entitled Chestnut Street Incident. It was with his 1982 album American Fool, which included the hits "Hurts So Good" and "Jack and Diane," that Mellencamp achieved commercial success. Since then, John has had 11 Grammy nominations, 10 Top 10 singles, 29 Top 40 singles, seven Top 10 albums and 11 Top 40 hits including "Lonely Ol' Night," "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.," "Small Town" and "Cherry Bomb."
Third Eye Blind, whose second album Blue has been a steady presence on the Billboard charts since its release in 1999, will be an integral part of Tiger Jam IV. Their 1997 debut album, Third Eye Blind, helped them achieve chart-topping success by spawning five hit singles, including "Semi-Charmed Life," "Jumper" and "Graduate," and surpassing quadruple-platinum status. The band previously toured with rock icons the Rolling Stones and U2.
