Florida Qb to meet with Spurrier about future

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida quarterback Tim Olmstead will meet with Gators coach Steve Spurrier sometime this week to decide whether he will stay at Florida.

The 1996 Parade All-American has struggled in his two years and appears to have dropped below Northwestern transfer Kevin McKinnon on the Gators' depth chart.

"I'm not leaning toward leaving or staying," Olmstead said.

Spurrier said Olmstead had shown progress this spring but did not have much chance to show it against the Blue team's pass rush in Saturday's Orange and Blue game.

"HE DID SOME BETTER THINGS THIS SPRING," Spurrier said. "He didn't have much chance to throw (Saturday), though." Olmstead, who completed 4 of 13 passes for 104 yards, seemed to be discouraged with his performance as a Gator.

"I definitely know what my weaknesses are," Olmstead said. "I'm aware of my weaknesses, which (Spurrier) makes abundantly clear to me every day."
