Quick, undersized defensive end finished his career with three consecutive first team all-conference honors. Kabeer has been one of the best defenders on the west coast over the past three seasons, including 35 consecutive starts over that period. He has a lightning quick first step that allows him to blow past offensive tackles consistently as a pass rusher. He set a new San Diego St. career sack mark with 33 QB tackles.<>
He has a lean frame and checked in at the Senior Bowl at under 6'4" and 239 lbs. He has long arms and a big wingspan with the frame to carry additional weight but he will never be able to carry in the 260 lb. range to be a regular as an end in a 4-3 set. His speed and quickness is best suited for a LT type role in a 3-4 set, though few clubs play that alignment.
As a senior, he made 62 tackles with 3 FF, 12 sacks and a conference leading 21 TFLs as a three time first team all-star. He accomplished this while playing with an ankle sprain from midseason. As a junior, he totaled 76 tackles, 7 sacks, 1 FC, 1 PBU and 15 TFLs. His quickness off the ball and his agility and lateral movement are his best athletic skills.
At the Senior Bowl practices, he again displayed these skills with the ability to make plays in pursuit. His outside quickness was contained often, with his lack of power and overall strength a glaring weakness against the top tackles. He struggled consistently at the point of attack in run support and cannot be considered more than a situational pass rusher currently.
He has developed good hand use in addition to the footwork to move laterally. He also has the quickness to move laterally and stunt effectively. His outside swim move needs work as does his club move. At the combine, he ran a 4.67 time with a 33" vertical leap, a 10' broad jump and 24 reps in the lifting. Type of player that has to get in the right situation to be an effective player. His big play ability will most likely be limited as a role defender unless he lands with a 3-4 set. Middle round pick and a quality prospect.
