Quick senior cornerback has been one of the best cover men in the nation since starting as a true freshman while earning three consecutive first team All-Big 12 honors. Brown tied an NCAA record and broke the Nebraska record with 52 consecutive starts, spanning four years and four bowl games. He became the first true Nebraska freshman ever to earn All-American status and start every game.
He is a smooth quick cover man with the savvy and instincts to blanket receivers. He combines very quick footwork, with the fast reactions to breakup the play. As a senior, he played in 12 games and posted 40 tackles with 2 TFLs, 1 FC, 1 FR, 15 PBUs and 3 picks. For his career, he set numerous Nebraska records, including career PBUs with 50, a game record with 7 PBUs, and a season record with 15 PBUs, set as a senior. He has a smallish frame, with little growth potential but those limitations have not stopped him from being a sure tackler in addition to a very durable defender.
He has come up big in key games, showing keen instincts and leadership in the secondary. His performances against Texas and Tennessee this past season were two more big game efforts that showed his fine level of development in coverage. He relies on his sharp instincts to make up for just adequate closing speed and understands the passing game and zones well. Despite his smallish frame, he plays a tough aggressive style and is a steady performer in run support.
As a junior, he made 46 tackles with 2 TFLs, 2 interceptions and 14 PBUs, a new Nebraska record at that time. He had a fine week at the Senior Bowl practices where he showed good man cover skills. He is quick to react to moves and shows the ability to blanket receivers with excellent adjustment to the routes and the ball in flight. His lack of height is a definite concern in matchups and will put a lot pressure on him as a starter. He is a talented CB with size concerns but very good cover skills. His extensive playing experience will help him start as a rookie nickel CB before challenging for a starters' job. Marginal top 100 prospect.
